Subscription & Auto-Renewal Terms
Last updated: June 20, 2026
Effective date: June 20, 2026
1. About these terms
These Subscription & Auto-Renewal Terms (the "Subscription Terms") describe the paid subscription plans for the Guac mobile application ("Guac," the "App," "we," "us," or "our"), how billing and automatic renewal work, how to cancel, and how refunds are handled. Guac is operated by Banetry.
These Subscription Terms are part of, and incorporated into, the Guac Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms of Service. Your use of Guac and any subscription is also governed by our Privacy Policy, and your use of the Apple App Store is additionally governed by Apple's terms (including Apple's Media Services / App Store Terms and Conditions and Apple's standard EULA). If there is a conflict between these Subscription Terms and the Terms of Service regarding subscriptions specifically, these Subscription Terms control.
Please read these Subscription Terms carefully before you subscribe. By starting a subscription, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to them.
2. What a Guac subscription gives you
Guac offers premium features through an auto-renewable subscription. A subscription unlocks the App's paid functionality (for example, unlimited or expanded scanning of foods by photo, barcode, and restaurant menu; Guac's ingredient-based opinions and "way of eating" assessments; and gamified features such as the gains bar and streaks). The exact set of premium features is described in the App at the point of purchase and may change over time as the product evolves.
Reminder: Guac is not a calorie counter, and Guac's assessments are AI-generated opinions based only on available ingredient and product data — not medical advice and not statements of fact about any brand, product, restaurant, or manufacturer. See the Terms of Service and the Disclaimers for full details. A subscription does not change the nature of these assessments.
3. Plans and pricing
Guac currently offers the following auto-renewable subscription plans:
| Plan | Price | Billing period | Auto-renews | Free trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weekly | $3.99 USD per week | Every 1 week | Yes | No |
| Annual | $49.99 USD per year (with 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers) | Every 1 year | Yes | 3 days |
Additional pricing details:
- Free trial. The Annual plan includes a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. The Weekly plan does not include a free trial — billing begins at the time of purchase. Trial conversion behavior is described in Section 6 below.
- Prices are shown in U.S. dollars. In other regions, the price, currency, and applicable taxes are displayed in your local App Store at the point of purchase and may differ due to currency conversion, local pricing, and taxes.
- Prices include applicable taxes where required; otherwise taxes may be added at checkout in accordance with Apple's pricing for your region.
- The current price, billing period, and any offer for each plan are always shown clearly and conspicuously in the App and on the App Store purchase screen before you confirm and pay. The price you see and confirm at purchase is the price that applies to your first period.
Subscriptions are sold by App Store country/region and are subject to the plans Apple makes available there. We may add, remove, rename, or change the features included in a plan; material changes to features of an existing subscription are addressed in Section 7.
4. How you are billed: payment through your Apple ID
All Guac subscriptions are sold and processed through Apple as in-app purchases. When you subscribe:
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account upon confirmation of purchase, using the payment method on file with Apple.
- Apple — not Banetry — collects your payment, manages your billing relationship, stores your payment method, and issues receipts. We never receive or store your full payment card number or other payment-instrument details.
- We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription-management service, to receive subscription status and transaction information from Apple (for example, whether your subscription is active, the plan, and renewal/expiration data) so we can unlock and maintain your premium access. We do not receive card data through RevenueCat. See the Privacy Policy for how subscription and transaction information is handled.
Your account, payment method, billing history, and subscription management for the App are tied to your Apple ID. Because Apple handles billing, some actions — such as updating your payment method or viewing receipts — must be done through your Apple ID / device settings, not within Guac.
5. Automatic renewal — please read carefully
Guac subscriptions automatically renew. This means you will continue to be charged on a recurring basis until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize Apple to charge your Apple ID account the then-current price for your plan at the start of each new billing period, on an ongoing basis, until you cancel.
The following apply to all auto-renewable subscriptions:
- Automatic renewal. Your subscription automatically renews for the same plan length (weekly or annual) at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- When you are charged. Apple charges your Apple ID for the renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current billing period, at the then-current price for that plan.
- No automatic cancellation. Your subscription will not be cancelled automatically. It continues — and you continue to be charged — until you take action to cancel, as described in Section 8.
- Managing renewal. You can turn off auto-renewal at any time through your Apple ID subscription settings (see Section 8). Turning off auto-renewal stops future charges; it does not, by itself, end your current paid period — you keep premium access until the end of the period you already paid for.
We present this renewal information clearly and conspicuously at the point of purchase, and we do not use misleading design, hidden terms, pre-checked add-ons, or other "dark patterns" to obtain your agreement to recurring charges.
6. Free trials and introductory offers
The Annual plan includes a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. The Weekly plan does not include a free trial — billing for the Weekly plan begins at the time of purchase.
The following behavior applies to the 3-day free trial on the Annual plan (and to any other introductory offer we may make available in the future, the specific terms of which will be clearly disclosed at the point of purchase):
- Conversion to paid. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the free trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid auto-renewing Annual subscription, and Apple will charge your Apple ID the standard price for the Annual plan ($49.99/year, or the then-current price shown at purchase) within 24 hours before the trial ends.
- Eligibility. The free trial is available only to eligible new subscribers and only once, as determined by Apple. Eligibility is governed by Apple's rules.
- Forfeiting an unused trial. If you switch to a paid plan while an eligible free trial is available, you may forfeit the unused portion of that trial, as determined by Apple.
- Cancelling during a trial. You may cancel during the free trial using the steps in Section 8. If you cancel before the cutoff, you will not be charged for the first paid period; you may retain access until the trial ends, as Apple determines.
7. Price changes
We may change subscription prices and the features included in a plan from time to time. If we change the price of a subscription you are currently enrolled in:
- Notice and consent for increases. Where required by Apple's rules and applicable law, Apple will notify you of a price increase, and depending on the type of increase, your express consent (opt-in) may be required for the new price to take effect. If your consent is required and you do not agree, your subscription will not renew at the increased price and will end at the conclusion of the then-current period.
- Notice for other changes. For changes that do not require opt-in consent under Apple's rules, Apple will provide notice in accordance with its policies, and the new price will apply to renewals after the notice, unless you cancel.
- Your choice. You can always review the current price in your Apple ID subscription settings and cancel before a renewal if you do not wish to continue at a new price.
- Feature changes. If we make a material reduction to the core features of a plan you are subscribed to, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, in the App), and you may cancel as described in Section 8.
Price changes never apply retroactively to a period you have already paid for.
8. How to cancel
You can cancel your Guac subscription at any time. Because billing is handled by Apple, you must cancel through your Apple ID subscription settings — not within the Guac app.
To cancel on your iPhone or iPad:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions (on some devices: Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases → View Account → Subscriptions, or open the App Store, tap your profile photo, then tap Subscriptions).
- Tap Guac.
- Tap Cancel Subscription (or turn off auto-renewal) and confirm.
If you do not see "Cancel Subscription," the subscription is already cancelled and will not renew.
Important things to know about cancelling:
- Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid being charged for the next period. If you cancel within the last 24 hours of a period, the upcoming renewal may already have been processed.
- You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not cut off premium access mid-period, and it generally does not trigger a prorated refund (see Section 9).
- Deleting the Guac app does NOT cancel your subscription. Removing the App from your device does not stop billing. You must cancel through your Apple ID subscription settings as described above. As long as the subscription is active, Apple will continue to charge your Apple ID even if the App is no longer installed.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, not immediately, unless Apple indicates otherwise.
If you have trouble cancelling, you can manage subscriptions at Apple's subscription management page (reachable from your device or via Apple's support site), and you may contact us at help@banetry.com for help locating these settings — though only Apple can process the cancellation of an Apple-billed subscription.
9. Refunds
All purchases are made through Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple — not by Banetry.
- We do not process direct refunds for subscriptions purchased through the App Store, and we generally cannot issue refunds or credits ourselves.
- Payments are generally nonrefundable, and there are typically no refunds or credits for partial billing periods, unused time, or features you did not use, except where required by Apple's policies or applicable law.
- To request a refund, you must contact Apple directly. You can request a refund through Apple's "Report a Problem" page (reportaproblem.apple.com), through your device, or via Apple Support. Refund decisions are made by Apple in accordance with Apple's policies.
- Nothing in these Subscription Terms limits any non-waivable refund, cancellation, or consumer-protection right you may have under the laws of your jurisdiction. If your local law grants you a statutory right to a refund or to withdraw from the purchase, that right still applies.
If you believe you were charged in error, please first contact Apple. You may also contact us at help@banetry.com and we will assist where we are able.
10. Failed payments and account status
If Apple is unable to charge your Apple ID for a renewal (for example, due to an expired card or insufficient funds), Apple may attempt to bill you again and/or suspend or end your premium access. Apple controls retry behavior and any "billing grace period." Your premium features may be paused or downgraded until billing succeeds. You can update your payment method through your Apple ID settings.
11. Clear, conspicuous, and no dark patterns
We are committed to fair and transparent subscription practices, consistent with applicable consumer-protection laws (including U.S. Federal Trade Commission guidance on negative-option and auto-renewal offers) and Apple's App Store requirements. Specifically:
- We disclose the plan, price, billing period, and auto-renewal nature of each subscription clearly and conspicuously before you purchase.
- We obtain your affirmative consent to the recurring charge at the point of sale.
- We provide a simple way to cancel (through standard Apple ID settings) and explain it plainly here.
- We do not use hidden fees, pre-checked boxes, misleading buttons, confusing flows, or other deceptive design to obtain or retain subscribers.
12. Eligibility
You must be legally able to enter into a binding contract to subscribe, and you must meet any minimum-age requirement set out in our Terms of Service and by the App Store in your region. If you are a minor, you may subscribe only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Subscription Terms and is responsible for the charges. Purchases made through an Apple ID are subject to Apple's Family Sharing and parental-control settings, which you control through Apple.
13. Taxes
You are responsible for any applicable taxes associated with your subscription, except for taxes based on Banetry's net income. Where Apple collects taxes as part of the purchase, those taxes are shown at checkout and handled by Apple.
14. Discontinuation and changes to plans
We may, to the extent permitted by applicable law and Apple's rules, modify, suspend, or discontinue a plan, feature, or the App itself. If we discontinue a plan you are actively subscribed to, we will use reasonable efforts to provide notice and, where appropriate, allow you to continue until the end of your current paid period or transition to another available plan. Discontinuation does not entitle you to a refund except as required by Apple's policies or applicable law (refunds remain handled by Apple — see Section 9).
15. Changes to these Subscription Terms
We may update these Subscription Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" above and provide notice as required (for example, in the App or on banetry.com). Changes to pricing and renewal terms for an existing subscription are additionally subject to Section 7 and to Apple's notice-and-consent rules. Your continued use of a subscription after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Subscription Terms, except where your separate consent is required for a price change.
16. Relationship to Apple
Apple is not a party to these Subscription Terms and is not responsible for Guac or its content, but Apple is a third-party beneficiary of the Terms of Service and may enforce them. Your subscription is subject to Apple's applicable terms, including Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions and the Licensed Application End User License Agreement. To the extent of any conflict between these Subscription Terms and Apple's terms regarding Apple-billed purchases, Apple's terms govern that purchase relationship.
